Dr. James Sproule, M.D
Dr. James (Jim) Sproule is a former Emergency Room Physician and recently retired Deputy Chief Coroner of the Province of Ontario. Jim has lived in Manotick with his family for 30 years and has always had a strong interest in public safety throughout his medical career. Just three months into his retirement, he experienced a near-fatal incident with a large flatbed trailer truck while riding his mountain bike across a bridge on Bridge Street. This event served as a call to action, prompting him to write an evidence-based review on pedestrian safety that highlights the elevated risk of fatalities on dangerous roadways like the Bridge Street/Manotick Main Street designated truck route. In the fall of 2024, Jim partnered with Bruce Miller to co-found MCCATT, an organization aimed at addressing truck traffic concerns in the community. Currently, Dr. Jim serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for MCCATT.

Adam Mills is a local Realtor in Manotick who specializes in marketing. Born and raised in this vibrant community, Adam returned to his hometown with his wife to raise their own family. His extensive experience in the local realty sector allows him to stay connected to the community, particularly regarding pedestrian safety and truck traffic concerns that affect residents. With a young family in Manotick, these issues resonate with him deeply. This commitment to public safety led Adam to become a public safety advocate, and he currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors on MCCATT, working alongside Dr. Jim Sproule.

Drew Conroy is a Manotick-area resident and MCCATT Director who brings experience in operations, governance, finance, risk management, and organizational systems. Professionally, Drew works in the non-profit sector as a Director of Operations, where he focuses on building practical systems, managing budgets, supporting teams, and improving accountability in complex environments. He joined MCCATT to support a safer, evidence-based approach to truck traffic through Manotick and to help ensure the group has strong governance and financial stewardship as the work moves forward.

Jill has resided in the village of Manotick for over 40 years where she and her husband Steve raised their family. In that period, she has seen a lot of healthy growth of businesses, amenities and community spirit within Manotick. Jill has resided in the village of Manotick for over 40 years where she and her husband Steve raised their family. In that period, she has seen a lot of healthy growth of businesses, amenities and community spirit within Manotick. As a frequent pedestrian and recreational cyclist around and through the village, Jill became increasingly concerned about the volume and kind of traffic particularly in our main thoroughfare. She wants current and future families, residents of all ages to enjoy safe, navigable streets. When she heard of MCCATT’s initiatives, Jill and Steve got involved to seek a solution. She brings to MCCATT her knowledge and experience from various Ottawa communities. Jill worked for over 30 years in the public education sector. She has also served on other volunteer Boards in the region.

Bruce Miller, P.Eng.
Bruce Miller brings over 40 years of experience as a licensed professional civil engineer to MCCATT. A resident of Manotick for the past decade, Bruce and his spouse, Sue, have raised three sons in Ottawa, two of whom are now raising their own families in the city. His extensive expertise in transportation engineering projects includes work with the City of Ottawa and its constituent municipalities prior to amalgamation, as well as with the former Regional Municipality. Witnessing numerous traffic safety hazards due to truck traffic concerns in the village motivated Bruce to take action; he realized that the streets in Manotick were ill-equipped to handle the increasing heavy truck volumes prompted by growth in the southern part of the city. A personal experience further pushed him to act when his late mother, at the age of 96, chose not to move to Manotick Place on Bridge Street, deterred by the noise and fumes from the through-trucks in front of the building. In 2024, Bruce co-founded MCCATT with Dr. Jim Sproule and currently serves as a technical advisor on the Board of Directors, advocating for improved pedestrian safety and a quieter community.
